Learning outcomes
PLO 7. Understand the main problems of philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches.
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of languages and literature being studied, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of folkloristics, linguistics, and literary studies, to be able to apply them in professional activities.

Before starting this course, students should know the material of the following previous courses:
"Introduction to literary studies";
"Ancient Ukrainian literature";
"History of Ukrainian literature of the first half of the 19th century".
Course content
The goal of the discipline "Literature of Ukrainian Realism" is to contribute to the formation of a system of knowledge regarding the leading ideological and aesthetic trends in the development of Ukrainian literature of the 2nd half. XIX century To give students the opportunity to deepen their basic knowledge and open up new interpretive possibilities when considering the historical-literary and critical material of Ukrainian literature of the specified period, to familiarize themselves with artistic texts and scientific works; on the basis of analysis and comments of those texts and main theses of scientific works, knowledge of European literary and critical contexts to develop skills of professional analysis of artistic text.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Methods: lecture, independent work.
Activities: oral answer, addition, participation in the discussion, report-analysis of scientific literature, creative task (essay, presentation, review), control work.defense), tests, blitz survey, final control work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam:
• the maximum number of points on the exam - 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive evaluation), which are added to the semester marks - 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam);
• the exam is conducted in the form of a written work with closed answers to 40 theoretical questions, the correct answer to each of which is evaluated by 1 point.
