Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Freely communicate on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in both native and foreign languages, both orally and in writing, and use them to facilitate effective intercultural communication.
PLO 7. Understand the main problems of philology and employ appropriate methods and innovative approaches to resolve them.
PLO 8. Acquire knowledge and understanding of the language system, the general characteristics of literature as the art of words, the history of the studied languages and literature, and demonstrate the ability to apply this knowledge in professional pursuits.
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques for creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in both native and foreign languages.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To be eligible for the course, students are required to have knowledge of the basic concepts of linguistics and the principles of systematic language organization, which are covered in the course «Introduction to Linguistics»; be familiar with linguistic terminology, the system of the Ukrainian language, theoretical and practical aspects of English phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar; have a B1/B2 level proficiency in the English language; possess the ability to independently analyse theoretical sources.
Course content
The discipline focuses on the study of the systematic organization of the modern English language, covering its phonetic, lexical, and grammatical levels, as well as exploring the history of English stylistics. The course is delivered in English, with the use of English-speaking local sources. The course consists of four modules. Modules 1-2, which are studied in the third semester, aim to consolidate knowledge about language as a phenomenon, explore aspects of phonetics and phonology, and examine the vocabulary of the modern English language. The course ends with a test in the third semester.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
During the semester, students are assigned individual tasks for independent work based on the lecture material. The assessment of these tasks is conducted in accordance with the types of assignments and forms of evaluation outlined in the educational program.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of the final evaluation is test.
During the semester, evaluation is carried out according to the types of works and the form of the counter. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "enrolled".
