Learning outcomes
PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, German and English. PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 14. Use German and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 17. Collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them to solve complex problems and problems in specialized areas of professional activity and/or study.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the course "Practical German Language" (in the 1st to 3rd semesters) is required, which includes the study of "Introductory Phonetics and Grammar" (in the 1st semester) and the comprehensive discipline "Classical and Modern Linguistics: Part 1 "Latin Language," Part 2 "Introduction to Linguistics."
Course content
The academic discipline "Theoretical Phonetics" is taught to students in the 2nd year and is part of the comprehensive discipline "Theory of the German Language" in the educational-professional program for the bachelor's level of qualification in the field of knowledge 0203 Humanities, specialization 035 "Philology." The discipline is mandatory and is taught in the 4th semester, with a total of 60 hours (2 credits), including 30 hours of practical classes, 14 hours of lectures, 16 hours of seminar sessions, and 30 hours of independent student work. The discipline includes one content module and one module-based assessment, and the learning process concludes with an exam. The main instructional formats are lectures and seminar sessions. The discipline familiarizes students with the fundamental theoretical principles of the German phonetic system and develops the conceptual and terminological framework necessary for understanding various phonetic phenomena in the German language.
