            Learning outcomes
        
        
            PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 15. To choose optimal research approaches and methods of analysis for the specific language and literary material. PLO 22. To analyze, design, and give reasons for translation decisions, decisions on the choice of translation tools and methods of quality assurance in specialized translation. PLO 24.1. To apply appropriate strategies and tactics in the process of translating and editing medical, legal, academic and newspaper style texts.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            Acquired theoretical knowledge of research methodology, translation theory, computer lexicography and terminology, the basics of literary and branch editing of translations, communicative strategies of the Italian language and the ability to apply them to solve professional problems. 
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            Abstract: It is a discipline of the selective block "Written translation and editing in professional communication (Italian language, English language)", taught in the third semester of the master's degree, includes lecture and practical parts, ends with an exam. At the lectures, students gain knowledge about the specifics of editing as a whole of translations of fiction and non-fiction texts, about the peculiarities of translation editing depending on the type of literature, functional style, genre; lectures are given in Italian. In practical classes, the ability to evaluate each edited unit as a part of the whole and to make a reasoned and adequate editorial decision is formed. The languages of practical classes, control and evaluation are Italian and Ukrainian.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Planned educational activities: organizing the search and evaluation of information necessary for making a well-founded editorial decision, teamwork, summarizing the work done, report, discussion. Teaching methods: general methods of conducting lectures and practical classes, control survey, interactive method. 
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            During the semester, comprehensive evaluation is carried out according to the following criteria: completeness of the presentation of the topic, fluency in the subject, reasoned answers to questions (min. 36 - max. 60 per semester). Distribution of points by types of work: attendance and activity in classes: 0.6 - 1 (min. 12 - max. 20 per semester); homework completion: 0.6 - 1 (min. 11.4 - max. 19 per semester); notes of 3 articles: 1.2 – 2 (min. 3.6 – max. 6 per semester); study of the world picture of the writer, literary assessment of his work, and formulation of the editorial task: min. 4.8 - max. 8 points per semester; study of the content and stylistic characteristics of the professional text in the context of its functioning and formulation of the editorial task: min. 4.2 - max. 7 points per semester. The exam (min. 24 - max. 40) consists of: 1) a theoretical question; 2) practical task.
