Course content
The aim of the discipline is to acquaint students who study the translation with the basics of theoretical and practical rhetoric, to give basic knowledge of the classical and modern rhetoric as a science of speech and mental activity aimed at persuasion and goal achievement through one's own discourse; as a theory of argumentation and also as a science of eloquence. Abstract of the academic discipline: The course is composed of two parts: "Development of rhetoric as a science of eloquence and orator’s art" and "Theory of argumentation as an important component of rhetoric." The first is aimed at mastering the tasks and basic concepts of modern rhetoric in their historical setting, at getting acquainted with the best examples of speech, starting from Antiquity. The second is aimed at the analysis of the components of rhetoric as a system and familiarization with the techniques of modern theory of argumentation, which is important for the translator's work.
