Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the courses "Biochemistry", "Genetics", "Molecular Biology", "Biology of Individual Development".
2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations, molecular biology; biochemistry, genetics, cytology,
embryology, cell biology.
3. Ability to independently apply knowledge of the above disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific literature and electronic databases, predict and critically evaluate research results, ability to system analysis.
Course content
The course is devoted to the study of molecular mechanisms of gene activation and function in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, as well as control systems for these processes. The role of intercellular communications in the regulation of gene expression during cell differentiation is considered, special attention is paid to the role of non-coding RNA and proteins in the regulation of gene function. Examples of diseases and anomalies associated with the violation of cellular control systems for the regulation of genes are given. Methods of analysis of gene expression and modern directions of research of this problem are demonstrated, the range of perspective projects in this field is outlined.
