Learning outcomes
1.1 Typological features, cognitive and functional specifics of sociological theories of the middle level.
1.2 Worldview determination and the main system-structural characteristics of sociological theories of the middle level.
2.1 To determine the cognitive potential of middle-level sociological theories in research practice.
2.2 Assess the heuristic capabilities of middle-level sociological theories in the knowledge of social phenomena and processes.
3 Present a research project.
4 Carry out independent analytical, research and exploration activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the main stages of development of sociology, key areas of modern sociological theory.
2. Be able to work with scientific literature and primary sources.
3. Possess the conceptual apparatus of modern sociological theory.
Course content
I. Worldview determination and basic system-structural characteristics of sociological theories of the middle level.
1 Worldview and conceptual foundations of the process of genesis and development of specialized theoretical knowledge in sociology.
2 Sociological theory: the concept and its object and cognitive specifics.
3 Sociological theories of the middle level in the system of sociological knowledge and their scientific status.
ІІ. Typological features, cognitive and functional specifics of sociological theories of the middle level.
4 The problem of conceptual differentiation of sociological theories of the middle level.
5 System typology of sociological theories of the middle level.
6 Typology of cognitive functions of sociological theories of the middle level.
7 Trends in the conceptual development of sociological theories of the middle level.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Work on practical classes: 30/18 points
2. Performance of control works: 20/12 points (2 works on 10 maximum or 6 minimum points for everyone)
3. Implementation and presentation of the results of the research task: 10/6 points
final grade: 40 points (20 maximum points or 12 minimum points for each ticket question).
The minimum score for passing the exam (overall positive grade) is 24 points
