Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before starting this course, students should know the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; basic general scientific theories and methods research; basic formal and logical laws, as well as basic requirements for the correctness of the thinking process. 2. To be able to collect and interpret information about phenomena and processes to create a speech; build reasoning correctly, based on the laws of logic and types of reasoning; draw rational conclusions from available information. 3. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude to events and phenomena of various nature; use of informative sources; work with professional literature.
Course content
The discipline "Rhetoric" belongs to the list of disciplines of the student's free choice and is taught in the 4th semester of the bachelor's degree. Within the academic discipline, students get acquainted with the subject of rhetoric, its tasks, theoretical foundations, modes of public speaking. Consideration of the main sections of rhetoric, as well as the stages of preparation for an oratorical speech, forms in students the necessary skills for professional communicative activity. The concept of "orator's strategy" and its components, the main genres of oratorical speeches, types of preparation for a public speech, the structure of an oratorical speech, the concepts of argumentation and criticism are considered. Based on the modes of public speech: logos, ethos, pathos, appropriate types of arguments are established. Due to the consideration of rhetorical figures and tropes, the expediency of their use in an oratorical speech is substantiated. The specificity of the speaker's non-verbal means is determined as an important element when delivering a speech.

Assessment methods and criteria
The final number of points for the discipline (maximum 100 points) is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final test. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. For students who scored a total of less than the critical minimum - 60 points, an interview is provided for those questions that were submitted for assessment. Thus, the final grade for the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for the semester work (minimum 48, maximum 80 points) and the final test (minimum 12, maximum 20 points).
