Learning outcomes
PR3. Carry out coordinated work for the result in the team, taking into account public, state and industrial interests. PR5. Analyze and evaluate the impact of biology on the development of society. PR9. Plan research, choose effective research methods and their material support. PR11. Carry out statistical processing, analysis and generalization of the obtained experimental data using software and modern information technology. PR13. Adhere to the basic rules of biological ethics, biosafety, biosecurity, assess the risks of the latest biological, biotechnological and biomedical methods and technologies, identify potentially dangerous organisms or production processes that may pose a threat of emergencies. PR14. Adhere to the norms of academic integrity in the study and conduct of scientific activities, know the basic legal norms for the protection of intellectual property.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Virology", "Principles of safety in the virological laboratory", "Identification of viruses", "Genetics of viruses", "Human and animal viruses". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of general virology, etc. academic disciplines to solve specific scientific and practical problems, work with scientific and scientific-methodical literature. 3. Have basic skills in defining the concepts of biorisk, biosecurity, biosafety, biorisk management system. Use in professional activities conceptual approaches to biosafety.
Course content
The teaching of this discipline is aimed at mastering the basic issues of biosafety in the use of viruses in bioengineering technologies, covers issues of vaccines, biological products. It is important to form in future specialists an understanding of the principles of forecasting biorisks and biothreats when working with virological objects, safety rules in the virological laboratory, modern principles of biological safety in laboratory conditions, basics of national security of Ukraine, the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological Weapons in the System of Measures for the Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Factors influencing risks and determining the probability and consequences of influencing risks, categories of control measures, principles, technologies and practices implemented to prevent unintentional release and spread of pathogens and toxins, assessment of biological risk are considered in detail.
