Learning outcomes
1.1.Know the main theoretical directions and approaches to the study of masculinity in sociology and gender studies
1.2 Know the categorical specifics of sociological theories of masculinity
2.1 Be able to use the methodology and conceptual and categorical apparatus of sociology in the study of masculinity
2.2 Be able to critically analyze the cognitive capabilities of theoretical approaches to the analysis of masculinity
2.3 Be able to use the conceptual and categorical apparatus of men's studies in the study of modern social processes
2.4 Be able to analyze various manifestations of masculinity with the help of sociological tools
3. Demonstrate skills of reasoned presentation of one's own opinion, competent and tolerant discussion with opponents
4. Carry out independent analytical, research and exploration activities

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1.Be able to work with scientific literature and primary sources.
2. Possess the conceptual apparatus of modern sociological and gender theory.
3. Possess basic skills in the application of sociological methods.
Course content
1. Sociology of masculinity: the logic of development and the specifics of the subject field. 2. Basic theoretical approaches to the consideration of masculinity. 3. Masculinism and male movements.
4. Theorizing masculinity: hegemonic masculinity and power, the concept of the crisis of masculinity.
5. Soviet and post-Soviet masculinities: design features
6. Intercultural features of masculinities.
7. Alternative masculinities and practices.
8. Body and sexuality of masculinity.
9. Gender equality and men's rights.
10. Men and health.
