Learning outcomes
Knowledge of the concept, nature, essence of international standards in the field of suffrage; conditions of participation of subjects of electoral process in elections, ways and means of protection of electoral rights, legal positions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the European Court of Human Rights in the field of electoral law. Ability to use the acquired knowledge in the process of law enforcement and interaction with the subjects of the election process, to prepare and conduct voting, protect violated voting rights of citizens, appeal against illegal decisions, actions or inaction of election commissions, executive bodies and local governments, to observe the election process, advise on its conduct. Skills of interaction with the scientific community on the issues of theoretical and methodological principles and constitutional and legal provision for electoral engineering in Ukraine. Formulate and substantiate legal conclusions on the issue of suffrage.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the peculiarities of the application of election legislation, stages of the election process, the constitutional and legal status of the Central Election Commission. Ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources, including foreign ones. Ability to conduct comparative legal research of individual legal institutions. Ability to apply an interdisciplinary approach in assessing legal phenomena; independent drafting of regulations, substantiate the social conditionality of their adoption, forecast the results of their impact on the relevant social relations.
Course content
The content of the discipline covers a comprehensive study of the principles of suffrage. The concepts of the principles of suffrage, their evolution, content, role in ensuring the right to vote and be elected are studied. Attention is paid to the principles of the election process. Particular attention is paid to international standards of suffrage, their implementation in the legislation of Ukraine.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and seminary activities - with the introduction of interactive teaching methods (brainstorming, case studies, discussions and others). Planned implementation of situational tasks; preparation of research reports; essay writing.
Assessment methods and criteria
Ongoing and final performance evaluation is used to determine the level of learning material. Assessment methods - the type of work / activity of the applicant, which will assess the level of achievement of learning outcomes (testing, creative tasks, individual work, independent work, etc. and the minimum threshold after which a positive assessment is credited) - and evaluation criteria are communicated to applicants before beginning of the study of the discipline by a teacher who conducts seminars. In the ongoing performance evaluation, the levels of "Knowledge", "Understanding", "Application", "Analysis" / "Synthesis" / "Evaluation" are subject to assessment. It includes thematic assessment and modular control. The maximum total number of points the applicant can score in the ongoing performance evaluation - 40, in the final - 60. The final score for the discipline is set on a 100-point scale (ECTS grade scale) and the national scale.
