Learning outcomes
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques, principles of intercultural management in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 16. To use specialized conceptual knowledge in a chosen field of Translation Studies to solve complex tasks and issues, which require updates and integration of knowledge, often under conditions of incomplete or lacking information and contradictory requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Understanding the process of translation and knowledge of translation theories. 2. Proficiency in Ukrainian at a C2 level (native language) and proficiency in German at a B2-C1 level. 3. Skills in written and/or oral translation between German and Ukrainian languages.
Course content
The discipline belongs to the cycle of elective courses and consists of lectures, practical sessions, and independent study hours. The course introduces students to the work of a simultaneous interpreter, the processes that influence it, and the strategies, tactics, and techniques that ensure quality simultaneous translation. During practical sessions, emphasis is placed on various stages of translation (preparation for translation tasks, the translation situation, post-translation stage), non-verbal factors that potentially impact translation quality, and the practice of simultaneous interpretation techniques. Students work on short and long presentations on various topics, including scientific, popular, and socially important themes, as well as legal topics, the European Union, Council of Europe, etc. The completion of translation assignments and simulations is accompanied by feedback. The final assessment is conducted through an exam. The final grade is determined by the points earned for oral responses (translation during sessions), a written theory test, and responses (simultaneous translation) during the exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes scheduled lectures (presentations and discussions) as well as practical learning sessions. The practical sessions involve both individual and team tasks, compiling vocabulary lists based on preparation for simulations (simultaneous interpretation), and conducting simulations of simultaneous interpretation situations. In the practical part of the sessions, the instructor serves as a mentor, guiding the learning process, sharing their experience, and discussing possible problem-solving approaches with the mentees. Reflections (both individual and group) are planned at various stages of the learning process.
Assessment methods and criteria
The main method of assessing practical work is constructive feedback. The program defines specific types of work that are evaluated with points (vocabulary, simulations, etc.). The final semester grade is determined by the points earned by the student for the specified types of learning and forms of assessment outlined in the program (maximum 60 points), as well as the points from the final evaluation - the exam (maximum 40 points). The minimum passing score for the exam is 24 points (60% of the maximum score), which is added to the semester points. The final exam consists of a written component (test) and an oral component (simultaneous translation of a German presentation into Ukrainian on a given topic). The maximum score that can be obtained for the exam is 40, and the minimum passing score is 24. The maximum score for the test is 10, and for the simultaneous translation, it is 30. The oral response is accompanied by detailed feedback from the instructor.
