3. Have basic skills in classifying viruses in Baltimore.
Course content
An important place is given to the peculiarities of the structure of simple and complex viruses, types of virion symmetry, methods and phenomena discovered on viral proteins as models and their application in modern science. Much attention is paid to aspects of biochemical interaction of virus and cell and the role of proteins in virus penetration, regulatory and enzymatic properties of viral proteins, unique features of biochemical structure of viral nucleic acids as carriers of genetic information.
The study of the biochemistry of viruses, as the basis of general and molecular virology, is relevant for the development of effective means of combating viral infections at different stages of the life cycle of viruses.
