Course content
The subject of the discipline is the peculiarities of the structure and course of the main physiological processes in higher aquatic plants associated with specific conditions of their life, ways to regulate these processes, the specifics of aquatic phytocenoses and their importance in the functioning and conservation of aquatic ecosystems. The course focuses on the classification of aquatic plants, factors of the aquatic environment and adaptation of different ecological groups of plants, the relationship of aquatic macrophytes with others aquatic organisms. The importance of aquatic plants as components of biocenoses and a powerful factor of self-purification of water bodies for the existence of natural aquatic ecosystems and the prospects of using higher aquatic plants to phytoremediation of the aquatic environment are considered.
