Learning outcomes
Р03. Skill to describe chemical data in symbolic form. Р08. To know principles and procedures of physical, chemical, physicochemical research methods, typical equipment, and instruments. Р11. Skill to describe properties of aliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic, and organometallic compounds, to explain nature and behavior of functional groups in organic molecules. Р12. To know main synthesis pathways in organic chemistry, including f interconversion of functional group and formation of carbon-carbon, carbon-heteroatom bonds. Р15. Ability to use acquired knowledge and skills for calculation, displaying, and modeling of chemical systems and processes, as well as the processing of experimental data. Р17. Ability to work individually or in a group, to obtain results within a limited time with an emphasis on professional honesty and scientific integrity. Р20. Skill to interpret the experimental data and to correlate this data with corresponding theories in chemistry.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To have the program of the basic course and special courses of an organic profile. 2. Orient in physico-chemical methods to determine the structure of natural compounds 3. Have the skills of the simplest operations in a chemical laboratory.
Course content
Extractions used to extract biologically active substances from vegetable raw materials, obtaining vegetable oils (orange, citrine, dill oil), isolation of alkaloids (caffeine from different teas and coffee and theobromine from cocoa beans husk), determination of chemical composition of extracted materials.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester control includes homework, tests and laboratory works. The evaluation is based on a 100-point scale. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student during the semester assessment is 60 points / 36 points. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student in the exam is 40 points / 24 points.
