Learning outcomes
Know the basic terminology of the discipline; prerequisites for the formation of grammatical science. Know the areas of theoretical grammar. Know the meaning of "grammatical category", "morphology", "syntax", "part of speech", "sentence". Know the classification of parts of speech. Be able to use appropriate terminology, demonstrate the necessary theoretical basis of the discipline. Be able to apply the basics of grammatical analysis. Have the skills to lead discussions when discussing topics in Japanese grammar. Act socially responsibly and consciously, have the skills to work autonomously and in a team.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastering of disciplines (after two years of study) "Japanese language", "Introduction to Oriental Philology", "Lexicology", etc .;
2) knowledge of the theoretical foundations of philological science (linguistics and literary studies);
3) mastery of skills of analysis of Japanese-language material.
Course content
Theoretical material on the principles and methods of grammar science and features of each section of grammar (morphology and syntax) on the material of the Japanese language. The following main issues are considered: 1) theoretical grammar as a science, the concept of grammatical category, sections of grammatical science; 2) history of grammatical research on the material of the Japanese language, features of understanding of grammatical phenomena by Japanese linguists; 3) features of parts of speech in Japanese; 4) characteristics and classification of nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and service parts of the language in Japanese.
The discipline "Theoretical Grammar" is one of the components of the complex discipline "General Theoretical Course of the First Oriental Language".
