Learning outcomes
Knowledge to understand key chemical concepts, essential facts, principles, and theories relating to natural sciences, life and earth sciences, as well as chemical technologies at a level sufficient for professional application and to enable further deep understanding of specialized fields of chemistry. Knowledge to understand the basics of mathematics at a level sufficient to achieve other learning outcomes provided by this guideline and educational program. Knowledge to understand basic patterns and types of chemical reactions as well as their characteristics. Knowledge to understand the relationship between structure and properties of substances. To know principles and procedures of physicochemical research methods, typical equipment, and instruments. Skill to plan and perform a chemical experiment, to apply suitable methods and techniques for preparation of solutions and reagents. Skill to apply basic principles of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics to solve professional tasks.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
This course is based on knowledge of inorganic chemistry (classes of inorganic compounds, theory of electrolytic dissociation, atomic structure), physics (gas laws, atomic structure, electricity, magnetism) and mathematics (equations and systems of equations, actions with degrees and roots, averages, natural and decimal logarithms, proportionality, functions and their graphs, differentials), organic, colloid chemistry, as well as a number of disciplines in the profile of the future specialty. The material of the discipline is the basis for the study of analytical, organic, colloid chemistry, as well as a number of disciplines in the profile of the future specialty
Course content
The course consists of lectures, practical classes and laboratory work on the main sections of physical process chemistry: chemical kinetics, kinetics of elementary processes, reaction kinetics in homogeneous systems, homogeneous catalysis, interchemical physiochemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemical equilibrium, basics of statistical thermoelectricity.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester control includes homework, tests and laboratory works. The evaluation is based on a 100-point scale. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student during the semester assessment is 60 points / 36 points. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student in the exam is 40 points / 24 points.
