PLO 2. To work with information effectively: to select necessary information from different sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic bases; to analyze and interpret it critically; to arrange it and make proper classification and systematization.
PLO 6. Use information and communicative technologies to solve complicated specialized tasks and professional issues.

To understand major problems of philology and approaches to their solution with the use of relevant methods, in particular, innovative interdisciplinary approaches of applied (computational) linguistics and information technologies; to explain their interrelation in the integrated system of interdisciplinary knowledge.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should know the theoretical foundations of general linguistics; main development milestones, schools, and directions of modern linguistic theory; peculiarities of the functioning of linguistic units at all levels of the language; have basic factual knowledge of a humanitarian nature;
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to contribute to the formation of a system of knowledge about linguistic corpora as a component of modern digital humanities, skills, and research work with corpora. The subject of study is the history and modern functioning of linguistic corpora, the typology of corpora and their representation for Ukrainian, English, and other languages; mastering the skills of search and research work with linguistic corpora.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, and workshops, independent work.
Types of work: written survey, oral response, additions and participation in the discussion, laboratory work with corpus resources, and participation in the creation of an article for Wikipedia about corpus resources.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out according to the types of work (written survey, Oral response, additions and participation in the discussion, laboratory work with corpus resources, and participation in the creation of an article for Wikipedia about corpus resources). The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive - "Passed". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive - "Failed".
