Learning outcomes
1.1 Methodological features and cognitive limitations of sociological research. 1.2 The system of concepts of modern methodology of sociological research. 1.3 Procedures and methods of activity of the researcher (research team) at all main stages of sociological research. 2.1 Basic skills at all major stages of sociological research. 2.2 Take into account the ethics of research when planning and conducting sociological research. 2.3 Prepare publications and presentations based on the results of sociological research.

Topic Module 1. 1. Scientific principles of sociological research. 2. Stages in the Sociological Research Process. Structure of research proposal. 3. Theories in sociological research. 4. Formulating a research topic. Reviewing the literature. Research problem. 5. Research question and research hypothesis. 6. Research design. Module 2. 7. Methods of data collection. 8. Measuring social variables. Reliability and validity of measurement. 9. Sampling method. 10. Data analysis: quantitative and qualitative. 11. Ethical issues in sociological research 12. Report writing and presentations.

Assessment methods and criteria
- semester assessment: 1. Modular test (on topics 1-6), compulsory - up to 15 points 2. Paper (after topic 10), compulsory - up to 15 points 3. Oral presentation at the practical lesson - up to 3 points If the sum of points gained as a result of all forms of semester assessment exceeds 60, the grade for the semester assessment is equal to 60 points. - final evaluation - examination, up to 40 points
