Course content
The discipline covers the study of biochemical and molecular mechanisms of catalysis, modern theories of enzyme-substrate interaction, the relationship between the structure of active centers of enzymes and their catalytic activity, biochemical mechanisms of regulation of enzyme functioning, obtaining and purifying enzymes from various sources. The features of the functioning of enzymes are studied, modern data on their structure are summarized, and mechanisms of regulation of enzymatic activity are considered. Attention is paid to applied aspects of the use of enzymes for the development of new drugs aimed at correcting numerous disorders of intracellular biochemical processes, the use of enzymes in various sectors of biotechnology, and manipulations to increase the activity and extend the duration of action of enzyme drugs in practical human activity.
