Learning outcomes
PR02. To be able to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances of inorganic, organic and biological origin using appropriate methods.
PR06. Be able to determine and analyze the basic physicochemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids).
PR07. To be able to apply knowledge of the composition and structure of cells of various biological agents to determine the optimal conditions for cultivation and the potential use of the studied cells in biotechnology.
PR10. To be able to conduct experimental studies to determine the effect of physicochemical and biological environmental factors on the vital activity of cells of living organisms.
PR11. Be able to carry out basic genetic and cytological studies to improve and increase the biosynthetic capacity of biological agents, taking into account the principles of biosafety, biosecurity and bioethics.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Cell Biology", "Physics", "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Biochemistry".
2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of chemistry, physics, cytology, biochemistry.
3. Ability to independently apply knowledge of chemistry, physics, general biology and other disciplines, use a computer, work with scientific literature.
Course content
The course is devoted to the basic mechanisms of biological processes at the molecular level. The principles of the structural organization of proteins, nucleic acids and macromolecular complexes; structural organization of the cell's hereditary apparatus; molecular mechanisms of transcription, RNA processing, protein biosynthesis, DNA replication, repair and recombination; mechanisms of regulation of biomolecular processes are considered. Much attention is paid to the basic methods of molecular biology and their application in biotechnology.
