Learning outcomes
PR9. Be able to prepare basic nutrient media for growing various biological agents. Evaluate the growth characteristics of biological agents on media of different composition.
PR12. Using microbiological, chemical, physical, physicochemical and biochemical methods, be able to carry out chemical control (determination of the concentration of disinfectant solutions, titrating agents, concentration of nutrient medium components, etc.), technological control (concentration of carbon and nitrogen sources in the culture liquid during the process; concentration of the target product); microbiological control (determination of the microbiological purity of nutrient media after sterilization, microbiological purity of a biological agent, etc.), microbiological purity and sterility of biotechnological products for various purposes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Cell Biology", "Fundamentals of Molecular Biotechnology", "Biochemistry", "Fundamentals of Biotechnology".
2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology and other disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature.
3. Possess basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in biological and biotechnological laboratories.
Course content
The course "Fundamentals of Cell Cultivation Biotechnology" covers the issues of obtaining, propagating and using plant and animal cell cultures, as well as their waste products. This discipline examines the regularities of regulating the reproduction, maturation, aging and elimination of the cell population; conditions for culturing cells and tissues in vitro; methods of regulating the conditions for growing in vitro cultures in order to increase the efficiency of an existing culture or induce cell development in a new desired direction. The knowledge obtained can be used in biotechnological, pharmacological, and medical research involving modern principles of cell technologies.
