Learning outcomes
PR7. Be able to apply knowledge of the composition and structure of cells of various biological agents to determine optimal cultivation conditions and the potential for using the studied cells in biotechnology.
PR20. Be able to calculate the main criteria for assessing the efficiency of the biotechnological process (growth parameters of biological agents, synthesis rate of the target product, synthesis ability of biological agents, economic coefficient, yield of the target product from the substrate, productivity, cost of the nutrient medium, etc.).
PR26. Be able to use modern knowledge of the achievements of biological, environmental sciences, etc. to implement them in biotechnological production

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Cell Biology", "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Plant Anatomy and Physiology", "Fundamentals of Molecular Biotechnology", "Genetic Fundamentals of Biotechnological Processes", "Fundamentals of Biotechnology".
2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology and other disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature.
3. Possess basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in biological and biotechnological laboratories.
Course content
The course covers the basics of cellular and genetic engineering, methods of genetic transformation of cultivated plants, domestic animals, fungi, related microorganisms and viruses and their practical application for the creation of economically valuable plant varieties and animal breeds, obtaining improved planting material. Considerable attention is paid to improving the environmental friendliness of agricultural production, namely biotechnological preparations for plant protection, obtaining preparations for veterinary medicine, improving technologies for processing and storing agricultural products, restoring yield and remediation of soils.
