Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
This course is based on knowledge from the school chemistry course, covering classes of inorganic compounds, the basics of atomic structure, the theory of electrolytic dissociation and the main classes of organic compounds and methods of their synthesis, as well as basic knowledge of physics (gas laws).
Course content
The academic discipline covers the fundamentals of general, inorganic and organic chemistry. Within the framework of the course, students master the basic theoretical provisions of the structure of atoms and matter, the nature of the chemical bond, and also get acquainted with the properties of solutions, including methods of their preparation with different concentrations. Acid-base and redox reactions involving the main classes of inorganic compounds are considered in detail. The chemical properties of elements and their compounds in the context of the periodic system are discussed separately. A significant section is devoted to organic chemistry, where the main classes of organic compounds (saturated, unsaturated and aromatic hydrocarbons, aldehydes, ketones, acids and amines) are analyzed in detail. Special attention is paid to synthesis methods, chemical properties and qualitative reactions (identification methods) of organic compounds.
