1. Successful completion of the courses "General Cytology", "Histology", "Biology of Individual Development". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of cytology, histology, embryology and other disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Possess basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in embryological, cytological, histological and morphometric laboratories.

Laboratory practice is a key discipline during which students master the basics of classical histological techniques. The student needs to familiarize himself with the basics of the technique of preparing histological preparations in order to better understand the preparations and learn how to analyze them, because it is permanent histological preparations that are widely used both in the educational process and scientific research and in the clinical practice of doctors, laboratory assistants, and pathologists. Histological research methods are used to study the structure and function of cells and tissues of humans, animals, and plant organisms both in normal conditions and in pathology and scientific experiments. Morphometric analysis is the process of obtaining quantitative and/or qualitative information from cytological, histological, and macropreparations. The task of analytical and quantitative morphology is the development and application of methods for quantitative and qualitative analysis of various structures of a living organism (cells, subcellular structures, tissues, organs, etc.) used in biological morphometric studies, as well as the patterns of changes in morphometric parameters in various morpho-functional states of a living system under various conditions in normal and pathological conditions. Among the methods studied are planimetric and stereometric methods, including work with computer morphometric programs, methods of three-dimensional reconstruction and confocal microscopy, image analysis, and also features of statistical analysis of the results of morphometric studies.
