Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Physics", "General Genetics", "Molecular Biology", "Biochemistry", "Biophysics"
2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of chemistry, physics, genetics, biochemistry and biophysics.
3. Possession of basic skills in working with laboratory equipment, the ability to perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific literature.
4. Ability to work in Excel and Original programs, skills in working with electronic databases.
Course content
The academic discipline "Modern Physico-Chemical Methods in Genetics" is a component of the educational program for professional training of specialists at the "Bachelor" educational level. The course is devoted to the study of the principles of modern physicochemical research methods and features of their application in the analysis of biological macromolecules and interactions between them. Possibilities and limitations of the basic physical and chemical methods, principles of a choice of a method concerning the purpose of research are shown. Covers methods that can be used in conducting research in related sciences and in interdisciplinary projects, and which require in-depth knowledge of the discipline. Particular attention is paid to modern physico-chemical methods used in the diagnosis and prognosis of genetic diseases in medical practice in Ukraine and around the world. In the course of studying the discipline the practical application and significance of certain methods in molecular and medical genetics are given or demonstrated.
