Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully complete the course, students must master the following disciplines: pedagogy (didactics), psychology, and foreign language teaching methods. Students must know: theoretical principles of developing skills in various types of speech activity in a foreign language; functions of control and evaluation; principles of using various means of control and evaluation of foreign language skills and abilities; basics of organizing control and evaluation during training. And also be able to: plan and organize the educational process in secondary school, choose appropriate means of control and evaluation.
Course content
The course "Methods of Tests Development and Preparing Students for Testing" is aimed at developing competencies in the field of testing and assessing the results of learning English. During the study of the course, students master the theoretical knowledge necessary for successful language testing, as well as acquire practical skills in developing tests to test English language skills and abilities. The content of the course consists of the main concepts and categories of language testing, as well as the goals, content, approaches, principles and methods of applying test control and assessing the results of mastering a foreign language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study consist of lectures, practical classes and students’ self-study. Teaching methods include answers at the practical classes, educational projects, Case Studies, portfolio, module test papers.
Assessment methods and criteria
The total semester score is based on a 100-score scale, consisting of practical class work (up to 60 points, minimum 36) and the final exam (up to 40 points, minimum 24). Semester assessment covers classroom participation (20 points), modular tests (20 points), and projects (20 points). The exam is written, requiring four responses: two theoretical or theory-practical questions and one practical task. Each task is worth a maximum of 10 points.
