PRN 1. Know the main historical stages of the development of the subject area. Collect, process and analyze information in the fields of geography, other natural sciences and humanities. PRN 5. Be able to operate with basic categories and concepts of the specialty. PRN 3. Know and understand the principles, forms, modern methods, methodological techniques of teaching the subject in secondary education institutions. PRN 18. Apply the basic conceptual, terminological, and conceptual apparatus of geography, its theoretical and empirical achievements at a level that allows interpreting natural-geographical and socio-geographical phenomena and processes. PRN 19. Be able to characterize natural landscapes and regions, explain their features and relationships To select interdisciplinary connections of geography courses in basic secondary school with the aim of forming students' natural and scientific competence in accordance with the requirements of the State Standard (PRN 23)

Geographical studies of individual continents and oceans require successful mastering of the previous courses "Fundamentals of meteorology", "Fundamentals of biogeography", "Research of relief and geological structure", "Fundamentals of hydrology and oceanology", "Geographical studies of soil and vegetation cover". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the formation of natural laws of geographic zoning and altitudinal belting. Possession of skills of analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction.

The study discipline "Geography of Continents and Oceans" is one of the basic ones in the preparation of bachelors in geography, which completes the block of mandatory disciplines on the study of the natural features of individual continents and oceans. The discipline contributes to the acquisition of orientation skills in space and time, allows to expand the geographical picture of the world. It is aimed at forming in students deep comprehensive knowledge about the peculiarities of the nature of individual continents and oceans. Special attention when studying the course is directed to the analysis of natural conditions and resources, the issue of preservation of flora, fauna and natural landscapes as a whole.

Lectures, seminars, practical classes and independent work

Final assessment. At the end of the 3rd semester - assessment. At the end of the 4th semester there is an exam. The maximum number of points that can be obtained by a student is 100 points on a 100-point scale. The maximum number of points on the assessment/exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam).
