PRN 10. Know the basics of systematics, methods of detection and identification of non-cellular life forms, prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and apply them to solve specific biological problems PRN 12. Demonstrate knowledge of the structure, life processes and functions of living organisms, understand the mechanisms of regulation of physiological functions to maintain homeostasis of biological systems. 1.Know – morpho-physiological features of birds; main groups of birds of different types of environments; functional role of individual groups of birds in ecosystems; main adaptations of birds to different conditions of existence; principles of preserving species diversity of birds. 2. Be able to determine the systematic affiliation of various representatives of birds; choose methods for conducting bird research; organize comprehensive studies of avifauna in certain ecosystems. 3. Have basic skills in conducting research in the field of ornithology, methods of field observations, and statistical data processing.

The discipline "Ornithology" is part of the cycle of student free choice. The need for this discipline is determined by the need to understand the specifics of the structure and functioning of the body of birds, the principles of their relationship with the environment. The study of the discipline involves prior acquaintance with the normative course "Zoology" and complements the systematic sections of zoology (protozoology, carcinology, entomology, batrachoherpetology, theriology, etc.). However, it is closely related to disciplines such as biogeocenology, biodiversity. The aim of the discipline "Ornithology" is to gain knowledge about the structure of birds, their adaptation to flight and different environmental conditions, migration, diversity, economic and epidemiological role of birds, as well as students mastering methods of studying birds.
