Learning outcomes
Achievement of various competencies by students, in particular, the ability to form the student's ability to think abstractly, analyze and synthesize; the ability to learn and master modern knowledge of the theory and practice of family law, including the practice of the European Court of Human Rights; work in a team; exercise their rights and responsibilities as a participant in family relations based on the values of civil society and international human rights standards.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the current family legislation of Ukraine, in particular, the Family Code of Ukraine as well as laws of Ukraine and international treaties of Ukraine governing family relations, special scientific literature, the recommended list of which is contained in this curriculum, and case law on family disputes. Be able to freely operate with the conceptual and categorical apparatus in discussing and solving problem situations; apply norms in the field of regulation of family relations, solve practical problems and draw up procedural documents. Have basic skills in drafting court documents and resolving disputes arising from violations of family rights.
Course content
According to the structural and logical scheme, students begin to study topics related to the general provisions of family law. Having mastered the general provisions, students move on to the study of individual institutions of family law - marriage; marital rights and responsibilities; determining the origin of the child; contesting paternity and maternity; rights and responsibilities of parents and children; rights and responsibilities of other family members and relatives; placement of orphans and children deprived of parental care.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, student self-study work
Assessment methods and criteria
Types of current control are selected by the teacher who conducts seminars, in agreement with the lecturer and in accordance with this program. The forms of student assessment include: express survey; colloquium; reports and research papers; testing; module test; solving problems/cases, drafting a contract in private international law. The final assessment is a written exam. The minimum score to be obtained by a student during the semester is 24 points, the maximum score is 40 points. During the current control during seminars, the following are subject to evaluation: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the student in the answer, activity in discussing seminar issues, systematic work in the classroom, and the results of assignments. Based on the results of the written exam, a student can receive a maximum of 60 points.
