Learning outcomes
To know: basic concepts and terms of Earth physics, classification of geophysical methods and parameters under study; physical foundations of geospheric research methods; geological interpretation of qualitative and quantitative changes in geophysical fields; principles of quantitative analysis of geophysical data. Measure, process and describe the results of geophysical observations and explain their relationship with geological and anthropogenic objects. Apply physical parameters of rocks to analyze natural processes and geological structure. To be able to organize geophysical observation systems for the effective solution of the task. Understand personal responsibility for professional decisions that can provide information about the geological environment.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of theoretical foundations of geophysical research methods. Possess skills in working with a personal computer.
Course content
The course focuses on the methods of global geophysics, as well as the general principles of equipment design and measurement techniques. Approaches to solving direct and inverse problems are considered. The methods of qualitative and quantitative interpretation are explained on individual anomalies. The application areas of global geophysics methods are characterised using real-life examples. The general principles of setting geophysical problems, an overview of ways of their implementation and efficiency are included.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and independent work of applicants.
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the module-rating system and includes: 8 independent works, coursework and two written module tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written test. A student is not allowed to take the test if he or she scored less than 16 points during the semester and did not defend the course work with a grade below 24 points.
