Learning outcomes
PR03. Plan, perform, analyze data and present the results of experimental research in the field of biology.
PR05. Demonstrate skills in assessing unpredictable biological problems and thoughtfully choosing ways to solve them
PR09. To comply with the provisions of biological ethics, rules of biological safety and biological protection in the process of training and professional activity.
PR19. Apply methods of determining structural and functional characteristics of biological systems at different levels of the organization in practical activities.
PR20. Argue the choice of methods, algorithms for planning and conducting field, laboratory, clinical and laboratory research, including mathematical methods and software for research, processing and presentation of results.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the material of lectures and practical/seminar/laboratory classes in the compulsory educational disciplines of the biological direction, which are taught to students of the "Bachelor" educational level in the first and second years.
2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations of chemistry, physics, mathematics.
3. Knowledge of the basic principles of basic biological research methods.
4. Possession of basic skills in the use of laboratory equipment and reagents for conducting experimental research in a certain field of biology.
5. The ability to present the results of experiments in the form of presentations and reports, to conduct a scientific discussion correctly.
6. Ability to work with electronic databases and search for scientific articles.
Course content
Educational practice in biology is a mandatory educational component of the educational and professional program "Biology", the purpose of which is to consolidate and deepen the theoretical knowledge obtained by the student, as well as to acquire the necessary skills and competencies for conducting experimental research in various branches of biological science.
During educational practice, the student gets an idea of the methodology of conducting scientific research, gets acquainted with the principles of planning and conducting experiments, methods of biological research, rules for processing and presenting scientific results, algorithms for searching scientific literature and its critical interpretation. An important component of practice is the formation of the student's idea of the organization of science in Ukraine and the world, including information on the scientific directions of work of leading domestic academic institutes, scientific projects and developments of the Institute of Biology and Medicine, international grants, scholarships, schools, etc.
