            Course content

Cell - a structural and functional unit of living things first responds to the penetration and reproduction of viruses. The infected cell undergoes changes in metabolic processes, in particular changes in membrane permeability to substrates and products of enzymatic processes, both in the cytoplasm and organelles, induces the synthesis of antigens. Penetrating into the cell, viruses cause various changes in the cell as a whole and its structural
components. These changes primarily affect the structure and function of the plasma membrane and membrane compartments, namely - the nucleus, mitochondria; chloroplasts (in
plant cells), peroxisomes, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus and cytosol. Therefore, as a result of the interaction of cells and viruses there is a complex
a set of morphological and cytophysiological changes that are specific to a viral infection.
