Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the academic disciplines "Botany", "Plant Physiology", "Biochemistry", "General cytology", "Modern information technologies in biology", "Statistical methods in biology", "Microbiology", deepening the acquired knowledge and skills of practical scientific experimental work during the training practice in botany and zoology. 2. The ability to independently apply knowledge of botany, anatomy and physiology of plants, biochemistry, biotechnology, etc. discipline, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodical literature. 3. Possession of elementary skills of working with materials and equipment, which are used in biological and chemical laboratories.
Course content
During this course, students will learn the basic rules conducting laboratory experiments, features of preparation of working solutions and basic nutrients; will be able to apply weight analysis to determine content of substances in plants using torsion and analytical scales; master methods of optical and volumetric analysis of carbohydrate content in plant objects, methods study of pathological conditions of plants, reproduction of phytopathogenic organisms, infection of plants, phytopathological examination of seeds, methods of determining stress load of plants for pathogenesis. Master all stages of fixation and research of biological objects by the TEM method, basic methods of DNA and RNA isolation, amplification marker genes, by standard methods of analysis of nucleotide sequences.
