Learning outcomes
Getting students systematized ideas for the formation of a professional worldview of a specialist in the theoretical foundations of surface physics, physics of nanoscale solids and in-depth knowledge of various quantum processes occurring on the surface of metals, semiconductors and low-dimensional structures.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course "Physical foundations of modeling of surface phenomena" is based on a series of disciplines of professional and practical training, in particular, higher mathematics (mathematical analysis, differential equations, probability theory, functional analysis), Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Physics.
Course content
The program of the discipline considers the main trends in the development of methods for modeling surface phenomena; basic principles of quantum theory of one-electron systems; multielectron problem in quantum theory; the Born-Oppenheimer approximation and the separation of the motions of nuclei and electrons; quantum theory of adsorption on the surface of a solid; elements of solid state theory needed to describe adsorption phenomena; one-electron and two-electron bond during chemisorption; cluster model of surface phenomena.
