Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully complete the course, students must first master the following courses: "Introduction to Chinese Philology", "Basics of Linguistics", "Lexicology of the Chinese Language", etc.; to know the linguistic terminology and the basic laws of language development in the amount necessary for the proper processing of theoretical and applied issues; to possess the skills of analytical processing of various types of linguistic material.
Course content
The goal of the discipline: an in-depth study of the current problems of Chinese linguistics both in the traditional dimension and within the limits of new linguistic trends.Abstract. The course "Topical Problems of Chinese Linguistics" has a research direction and is aimed at forming a system of knowledge among students about the main problems of modern linguistics in the field of Chinese studies. The course contains 2 content modules. Module 1 is aimed at forming a system of knowledge among students regarding current problems of psycholinguistics, cognitive and communicative linguistics in the field of Chinese studies. Module 2 focuses on modern approaches to the study of theoretical grammar, phonetics and stylistics of the Chinese language; students are expected to deepen their previously acquired knowledge and skills regarding the theoretical aspects of the Chinese language, as well as acquire new skills in the specialized linguistic analysis of Chinese-language material. The discipline ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of organization of study: lectures, seminar classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork (oral answers), project and research-referential work (reports, presentations), modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for completing the prescribed types of work (including the final exam). In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall grade consists of points received for work during the semester (maximum – 60 points, minimum – 36 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of an exam (maximum – 40 points, minimum – 24 points). The format of the exam is written: 2 theoretical questions (maximum 20 points each) related to current problems of modern linguistics in the field of Chinese studies. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
