Learning outcomes
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional
community and with representatives of other professional groups at various
levels.
PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles,
basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen linguistic
specialization.
PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret
and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen
specialization).
PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.
PLO 20. To undertake pre-translation analysis of specialized texts of various
styles and genres.

Course content
This discipline purpose is to consolidate the practical skills and experience of
the translation (interpretation, if necessary) in real conditions acquired during
training; to form student awareness of the professional significance of this
knowledge; to demonstrate the peculiarities of translation in the conditions of
professional activity; to strengthen the desire of systematical renewing and
improving the acquired knowledge and to apply it in the creative form in practical
activities. Students’ practice is running in order to familiarize them with the
conditions and situation in the actual labor market, it is aimed at activating the
ability to work with reference literature, Internet resources and office equipment,
the ability to make specific decisions independently and to implement them
autonomously in translation work.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The acquaintance with the requirements for the training is realizing in 2 formats:
face-to-face and remote. Formulation of tasks and volumes of text material for
translation. Referencing, annotating, compiling glossaries or corpora. The
requirements to execute reporting materials for both formats are the same,
regardless of the practice base.
Consultations with heads of practices, assistance in processing, analysis and
synthesis of scientific information when compiling glossaries or corpora are
foreseen.
Assessment methods and criteria
Methods: independent work and consultations.
The maximum number of points during the semester is 100.
Evaluation criteria:
• translation of the received tasks from a foreign language into Ukrainian (TR*
1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.2, 3) - max. 15 points or annotation and abstracting of special texts
(TR 1.1–1.2, 1.4, 2.1–2.3, 3) – max. 15 points;
• compiling a glossary (RN 1.2, 1.4, 2.1-2.2, 3) - max. 15 points;
• execution of the translation in accordance with established standards (TR 2.1-
2.2, 3) - max. 15 points;
• preparation of reporting materials based on the results of training practice (RN
2.1-2.2, 3) - max. 15 points;
• student written report, defense of the report at the final meeting, feedback
from the institution where the training (translation) practice took place (RN 1.2, 3,
4) - max. 40 points.
