Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 21. To know the specifics of translator’s work in various fields (textual, media, audiovisual, web-space) and be able to use necessary tools and techniques Optional Block 1 “Written translation in Professional Communication” PLO 25.1. To apply written translation techniques from Ukrainian into Spanish. Optional Block 2 "Oral Two-Way Translation": PLO 25.2 To have command of techniques for simultaneous and conference translation in Spanish.

Course content
The main purpose of the exam is to determine the level of student knowledge of the basics of translation theory, as well as abilities and skills in translation practice in various areas of translation activity. Abstract of the academic discipline. The program of the comprehensive final exam on the theory and practice of translation (first foreign language) includes a list of basic questions on the theory of translation, in accordance with the curricula of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (see below for the content of the program), and provides control and assessment of the level of theoretical knowledge obtained students of the specialty. A meaningful, logical, clear answer to theoretical questions means the ability to show the semantic and structural features of language and translation phenomena, illustrate your answer with examples, analyze and theoretically understand the linguistic material of several languages.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
1. Theoretical question. 2. Consecutive translation (for oral translators) of a political speech/ Written translation (for written translators) of a socio-political or special text from a foreign language into Ukrainian (up to 1200 printed characters) and its translation analysis. 3. Sight translation from the Ukrainian language of a socio-political text (800 printed characters) into a foreign language.
Assessment methods and criteria
Methods: Exam. Evaluation parameters: - reproduction of the content, informativeness, adequacy of the translation, - translation form, stylistic variability, translation equivalence, - language correctness (at different levels). Evaluation criteria. - The maximum number of points that a graduate can score is 100. The maximum/minimum possible number of points for the first question of the ticket: the maximum point is 30; the minimum score is 20. The maximum/minimum possible score for the second and third questions of the ticket: the maximum score is 25; the minimum score is 15. The maximum/minimum possible number of points for the fourth question: the maximum score is 20; the minimum score is 10.
