PLO 1 Communicate fluently in English on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists, use English for the organization of effective intercultural communication. PLO 2 Work effectively with information: select necessary information from various sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic bases, critically analyze, interpret, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 8 Know and understand the language system, general characteristics of literature as the art of words, history of the Ukrainian language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in the professional activity. PLO 10 Know language norms and be able to apply them in practical activity.PLO 12 Analyze language units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and the processes that cause them. PLO 15 Carry out linguistic and literary analysis of the texts of various styles and genres.

"The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the theory and applied aspects of phonetics; development of skills and abilities of transcription, analysis of the sound system and its changes; assimilation of orthoepic norms. Abstract of the course. Module 1. Segmental phonetics: subject, methods and place of phonetics in the system of linguistic disciplines; phonetic and phonemic transcription; the structure of the human speech apparatus; articulatory-acoustic nature of sound units; experimental phonetic research; changes in sounds in the speech flow. Module 2. Phonology: basic concepts and problematic issues of phonology; phonological interpretation of sound changes, their historical prerequisites. Module 3. Supersegmental phonetics: supersegmental phonetic units; emphasis; intonation; the main orthoepic norms of the modern Ukrainian literary language."

Educational activities: answers during practical work, express control work, abstract, creative task, final control work. Teaching methods: lecture, practical class, independent work.

Answers during practical classes - 1 min/2 max, express control works - 4 min/6 max, abstract - 4 min/5 max, creative work - 3 min/5 max, final test - 12 min/20 max. The final grade for the course (minimum 60, maximum 100) is determined by the sum of points obtained in the semester work (minimum 52, maximum 80) and the final test (minimum 8, maximum 20 points). The grading scale is as follows: "Excellent" - 90-100 "Good" - 75-89 "Satisfactory" - 60-74 "Unsatisfactory" - 35-59.
