Full-time form

Fluency in the Ukrainian and Japanese languages; knowledge of the theoretical foundations of translation studies; successful mastering of the disciplines "Japanese Language: Advanced Level", "Fundamentals of the Japanese Translation Theory", "Fundamentals of Translation Practice".

The discipline DVS.1.18 "Oral Japanese-Ukrainian Bidirectional Translation" from the optional block "Japanese Philology and Translation" is taught in the eighth semester and consists of 3 credits, i.e., 90 hours (44 hours of practical classes and 46 hours of self-study). The form of final control – a pass-fail examination. The course is aimed at updating the acquired theoretical knowledge of translation studies and forming practical skills, abilities and competencies of students that are necessary for the future profession of a Japanese and Ukrainian interpreter. Practical classes provide for various types of work with fragments of oral speech in Ukrainian and Japanese: annotation, referencing, interpretation (sequential and from a sheet). Students are trained to select translation equivalents and transformations aimed at overcoming lexical, grammatical and stylistic difficulties in the Japanese-Ukrainian interpretation, as well as applying pragmatic adaptation techniques.

Forms of training: practical sessions, self-study. Teaching methods: explaining new material, active listening, engaging in discussions, working in groups, discussing results.

Lexical and grammatical tests, tasks on annotation and referencing of text, interpretation of the Japanese and Ukrainian texts, module test. See the work program of the discipline for evaluation criteria for each type of tasks.
