Learning outcomes
Know the basic terminology of the discipline. Know the types and kinds of translation. Know the meaning of the concepts of "equivalence", "adequacy", "translatability", "national and cultural specifics of the text", "gap". Know the stages of creating and editing a translation. Be able to use appropriate terminology lexical, grammatical and stylistic transformations in translation, fill in the gaps in the text, have the skills to conduct discussions when discussing topics in forensic and medical translation, act socially responsibly and consciously, have the skills to work autonomously and in a team.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastering of the disciplines "Japanese language", "Introduction to Eastern philology", "Translation practice", "Theory and practice of translation", "Translation studies", "Linguistics", "Stylistics", etc .;
2) knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics and translation studies;
3) mastery of the practice of translating a Japanese text, interpretation skills;
4) the ability to apply translation transformations and work with specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias.
Course content
Presentation of theoretical material on the genre specifics of forensic and medical translation, lexical, grammatical and stylistic features of modern forensic and medical translation, the most typical lexical and grammatical translation transformations in the field of forensic and medical translation; work with practical material - oral and written translation of Japanese-language forensic and medical texts of various backgrounds and genres. Consideration of the following main issues: 1) the concept of forensic and medical translation, background and genres of forensic and medical text; 2) lexical and grammatical difficulties of judicial and medical translation; 3) the most typical translation transformations in the oral translation of Japanese court and medical texts; 4) stages of preparation of the translator for interpretation in court.
