PLO 10. To collect and systematise linguistic, literary and folklore facts, to interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres (depending on the specialisation elected). PLO 11. To carry out the scientific analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, to interpret and structure it according to the relevant methodological principles, to generalise information on the basis of independently processed data. PLO 20. To apply knowledge of the modern political Arabic discourse in the Orient countries.

The goal of the discipline is to generalize students' knowledge of the specifics of various types of texts inherent in political discourse, as well as the ability to correctly understand and translate such texts from Arabic to Ukrainian and from Ukrainian to Arabic. The discipline provides a broad theoretical vision of modern political texts not as separate phenomena of speech, but as part of a general discourse, which has a specific structure peculiar to Arabic linguistic culture.

Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Self-study involves preparation for oral responses, working with vocabularies and reference literature, research presentation, fulfilment of translation exercises.

Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written tasks, translation exercises - 36/60 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points, final test paper - 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 - failed.
