1. To communicate freely on professional and scientific issues in a foreign language, especially in the scope of SDI (PR3) 2. To apply modern models and information technologies for research and development in the scope of geography and nature management on the basis of IPD (PR6) 3. To apply geographic information technologies, create and study models of geosystem development realization, to determine the possibilities and limits of their application (PR10) 4. To plan and perform theoretical and applied research, draw sound conclusions, analyze and present research results (PR12)

Advance claims to mastering or selection of the academic discipline: 1. To know key principles of profile common-geographic academic disciplines and computer sciences. 2. To be able to apply the approaches of geographic modeling, geographic information systems and technologies, information networks and environmental management. 3. To possess the expertise in using of international environmental conventions and treaties and in GIS designing.
Course content
Annotation of the academic discipline: The discipline deals with general principles and approaches to SDI development; technologies of metadata and Spatial Data Catalogues' development; technologies of spatial data visualization for SDI, open spatial access in SDI and different SDI services; approaches to outreach and capacity building of SDI and also with factors of an effective SDI organization and operations with Web Mapping Service (WMS) Interfaces.
