Learning outcomes
Forming of knowledge on the development of the science of physics from ancient times to our days, on the development of the principal physical theories (mechanics, thermal phenomena, electrics and magnetism, quantum physics), on the intellectual efforts of prominent scientists, connected with forming of these theories.

The course “Development of physical theories” is based on the cycle of disciplines, including general physics and philosophy
Course content
The stages of the development of the science of physics from ancient times to our days are presented in the program of the discipline. It is achieved through the history of the development of the principal physical theories (mechanics, thermal phenomena, electrics and magnetism, quantum physics). Special impact is made on the pre-conditions for every new stage, roots of the development of scientific thought, ways in which the results were obtained.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, final control work, tasks for the work out of classes, final examination
Assessment methods and criteria
Control works, tasks for the works out of classes, answers at the final examination are evaluated. The contribution of the different components into the final mark under the condition of successful preparation of all the tasks is: knowledge – up to 50%, scills – up to 35%, communication – up to 5%, autonomy and responsibility – up to 10%.
