Learning outcomes
Know the leading concepts of European societies, typology of societies and analytical dimensions for comparative study. Know the features of the comparative method, cognitive capabilities and limitations of its types, international databases applied to the study of societies Be able to use information and communication technologies in the search and comparative analysis of sociological and statistical information about European societies Present the results of practical analytical work, identify strong and weak arguments of scientific publications and presentations

Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of sociological understanding of society as a social system. Ability to work with statistics Possession of basic skills of search and selection of relevant information, critical analysis, teamwork.

What is Europe? Problems of borders and regions How to compare countries? Methodological problems, sociological dimensions, comparative databases Institutional design of European societies: historical heritage and latest trends Cultural map of Europe: cultural differences and similarities Social inequalities and stratification: European comparisons Migration challenges to European countries Quality of life in European societies Social activism and political participation
