Learning outcomes
Know:
The mission of expert activity of a cultural critic, its functions, strategic and tactical tasks.
Methods of analysing cultural and artistic phenomena, their genesis.
The role of national culture in the European context.
Methodological principles of research of artistic traditions and modern socio-cultural practices.
Be able to:
Conduct an expertise of cultural property objects, projects, research and educational activities, current legislation of Ukraine in the field of culture.
Carry out expert and analytical work.
To implement knowledge of procedural and documentary support of expert activity.
Communication:
Use knowledge of foreign languages to analyse informational resources.
Present the results of the work.
Autonomy and responsibility:
To solve complex tasks related to the verification of the results of existing published socio-cultural studies.
Be responsible for the reliability of the research.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know:
The main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process;
Basic cultural theories and methods of cultural research;
Basic cultural concepts and categories;
Specifics of home and foreign culture;
Basic principles of management of socio-cultural activities;
Be able to:
Collect and interpret information on cultural phenomena, cultural processes and events;
Analyse works of art and design;
Apply modern philosophical and aesthetic concepts and methods in the process of understanding cultural phenomena;
To use the acquired knowledge and skills in research, educational and cultural work.
To have:
Skills of scientific research of cultural phenomena;
Critical attitude and forecasting in relation to cultural and artistic events and phenomena;
Course content
1. Expert work of a culturologist, its functions, strategic and tactical tasks.
2. Expert work in the system of professional competences of a cultural scientist.
3. Problems of institutionalisation of cultural expertise.
4. Expert knowledge, expert activity in the field of culture, cultural expertise: definition and specificity of interaction.
5. Areas of expert application of cultural knowledge.
6. Types of expert analytical activity and its basic principles.
7. Functional role and areas of application of new types of expert activity in the field of culture. Self-study No. 1: "Expert research of the socio-cultural sphere".
8. Modern models, methods and techniques in expert evaluation activities.
9. Forms of organisation of work of experts on cultural values.
10. Information support of expert activity.
11. Culturological expert activity as an instrument of public policy.
12. Culturological expertise of cultural values: specificity of the subject and methods, procedural and documentary support. Self-study No. 2: "Analytical note" (on current cultural issues of the student's choice).

Assessment methods and criteria
The final grade in the course (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) is the sum of the points for the semester work (minimum 48, maximum 80 points) and the final test (minimum 12, maximum 20 points). The grade is based on the student's performance throughout the semester.
Assessment of semester work:
1. Participation in discussions, oral reports - 24 / 40 points.
2. Self-study No. 1 "Expert research" - 6 / 20 points.
3. Self-study No. 2 "Analytical note" - 6 / 20 points
The total grade for the semester consists of the points obtained for class work and self-study work (expert research, analytical note). All types of work for the semester have
- a maximum of 80 points
- a minimum of 48 points
Final written test - 12 / 20 points
