Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages. PLO 10. To collect and systematise linguistic, literary and folklore facts, to interpret and translate texts of different styles and genres (depending on the specialisation elected). PLO 14. To create, analyze and edit texts of different styles and genres. PLO 21. To apply knowledge and skills necessary to ensure adequate written and oral Persian-Ukrainian two-way translation in various sectors of the economy and human life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of Persian grammar and vocabulary at a professional level (from the course "Persian for professional communication"). Knowledge of the main theoretical provisions, specifics and problems of translation studies as a science. The ability to apply translation transformations in practice and to use search engines and catalogs of Internet information resources.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to acquaint students with the specifics and features of oral and written translation of scientific and technical texts, to master the main array of vocabulary and phraseology used in technical translation, and to acquire skills in their practical application.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes aimed at developing students' skills in oral and written translation of the specified types of texts and self-study of students. Completion of homework and translation exercises is mandatory. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of an oral survey and the organization of written tasks,translation exercises, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written tasks, translation exercises - 36/60 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points, final test paper - 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not require additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 - failed.
