Prerequisites and co-requisites
The programme is designed for students who have successfully completed the disciplines "Introduction to Translation Studies", "General English", "Practice of Translation"; have an adequate knowledge of the theoretical foundations of translation, vocabulary, grammar and stylistics of English and Ukrainian and have basic skills in translating socio-political texts, and are fluent in English and Ukrainian.
Course content
The aim of the course is to understand the theoretical foundations of translation and the peculiarities of a publicistic text, to develop skills in translating publicistic texts (English-Ukrainian direction) and in translation analysis. The course programme involves mastering the theoretical foundations of translating publicistic texts and practical work of students aimed at both direct translation of publicistic texts and their preliminary translation analysis. The course is taught in the form of seminars and independent work. The final assessment is a credit.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities throughout the semester: - answers on seminar classes; - written assignments; - individual assignments and group projects implemented in the course of individual work; - check-up work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment occurs during the semester according to the types and forms of control. Credit is awarded for the results of the students' work during the semester and does not require additional ways of evaluation. Students with a minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "pass." Students without a minimum positive score of 60 receive a "fail." Students who score less than 60 points during the semester must turn in the material on the backlog topics by writing individual papers, essays, or, if necessary, writing a check paper to pass the test. • Answers on seminar classes – 12 points • Written assignment – 6 points • Individual assignments – 12 points • Group projects – 6 points • Check-up work – 24 points.
