            Learning outcomes
        
        
            PLO 8. To know and to understand the system of ancient Greek, Latin and foreign languages, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of ancient Greek and Latin languages and literature, to be able to apply the knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 12. To analyze units of language, to determine their interaction, to characterize language phenomena and processes that cause them.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of ancient Greek and Latin languages texts of various styles and genres.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            1) successful mastering of the academic disciplines: "Introduction to Classical Philology", "History of Ancient Greece and Rome", "History of Roman Literature", "Introduction to Linguistics" and mastering the normative course "Latin Language";
2) knowledge of the general foundations of linguistic terminology, knowledge of the history of Ancient Greece and Rome and the peculiarities of the development of Roman literature, normative grammar of the Latin language;
3) possession of the skills and abilities of lexical and grammatical analysis of Latin texts of different periods and genres.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The discipline "History of the Latin language" consists of two substantive parts:
1. Historical phonetics of the Latin language. Dedicated to the following main problems: The system of Latin vocalism in the Indo-European aspect. The system of Latin consonantism in the Indo-European aspect. Basic phonetic laws of the Latin language.
2. Historical morphology of the Latin language. Dedicated to the following main problems: Historical morphology of the noun, adjective, pronoun, numeral system. Historical morphology of the verb system.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Oral answer, additions, participation in the discussion, report-analysis of scientific literature, control work with open answers, exam.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work and for independent work. All types of work for the semester have as a result:
o in the maximum dimension of 60 points,
o in the minimum measure of 36 points.
In case of absence from the seminar session, the student must complete the assignment for the seminar.
Final assessment: exam
The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam:
• the maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive grade) that are added to semester grades is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam);
• the following learning outcomes are evaluated at the exam: RN 1.1-1.5; PH 2.1-2.4; PH 3.1; PH 4.1-4.4.
• the exam is conducted in the form of a written work with open answers to two theoretical questions, each of which is evaluated with a maximum of 20 points.
