Learning outcomes
PR01. Analyze the features of natural and anthropogenic systems and objects of the Earth's geosphere. PR05. Plan and carry out scientific experiments, write scientific papers by specialty. PR07. To know modern methods of research of the Earth and its geospheres and to be able to apply them in production and research activities. PR12. Model geospheric objects and processes, using cartographic and mathematical methods and geoinformation technologies. PR13. Identify and classify known and register new objects in geospheres, their properties, phenomena and processes inherent in them.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of water exchange and the global hydrological cycle on Earth, about the formation of groundwater and deep underground water flow to rivers, calculations of water exchange between surface and groundwater; 2. Possession of elementary skills of water balance calculations, statistical processing of series of hydrological and hydrogeological data; 3. Mastery of information synthesis and analysis methods.
Course content
The educational discipline is devoted to the study of the theoretical and methodological principles of water exchange between surface and groundwater and calculations of the components of the water balance representing water exchange processes (lateral inflow/outflow, filtration losses, etc.), in the context of the following main issues: general features of the global hydrological cycle, the participation of groundwater in the formation of the river flow, including its qualities; the essence of methods for calculating groundwater inflow to rivers; methods of studying cyclicity in the fluctuations of indicators of the regime of rivers and groundwater; changes in the nature of water exchange and water resources under the influence of global warming.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical work, independent work, defenses of independently completed practical work, modular control work, exam
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. It is mandatory for the exam to write test papers according to content modules, to complete all practical works. For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points.
